Message from the 1^st Team Captain

The 1^st XI is a fantastic team to play for. There is not only a great camaraderie among the group, but a balance between desire to win by playing “hard cricket” and desire to have fun and enjoy our Saturday afternoons.

This healthy balance saw the team stride to great success last season. The team enjoyed promotion from the OCA division 6 into division 5 finishing in second place only on net run rate. The highlight of the season was undoubtedly the triumph in the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup final in which we defeated West Witney from the division above, lifting silverware for the first time in recent memory.

The aim for the coming year is to try and gain our third successive promotion and hopefully have another stab at a long and successful cup run. This is a team which should be playing at a higher level and we will strive to make this happen over the coming seasons, but without forgetting that it is something which should be enjoyable and that the game must be played in the right spirit.
